A massive report from the Washington Post. It's huge. It will make you sick to your stomach.
That being said, I know it's sexy in media circles to frame things in teabagger terms, but the "waste" and "overspending" in our secretive shadow government is so, so very beside the point.

What's to be sick about?
What's to be sick about is a complex of intelligence agencies and private contractors so massive and far-reaching that even its own leaders don't know how big it is, what it's doing, or who's in charge. And yet, ironically the system has become so massive and unwieldy that it becomes less capable of detecting terrorist threat before they attack because it is unable to effective analyze and synthesize the mountains of information it gathers to put the right pieces together.
As Greenwald put it, we have sacrificed more and more of our liberty for less safety.
